What does upholstery cleaning cost in Budapest?
We publish the numbers, because almost nobody here does - and we explain what pushes them up.
The short answer
- Straight sofa, two or three seats: 22,000-25,000 Ft
- Corner sofa: 30,000-35,000 Ft
- Armchair 8,000 Ft, dining chair 3,000 Ft
- Mattress: 15,000 Ft one side, 25,000 Ft both sides
- Leather armchair 12,000 Ft, two-seat leather sofa 25,000 Ft, three-seat 28,000 Ft, leather corner 35,000-40,000 Ft
- Enzyme treatment for pet odour: +10,000 Ft
- Minimum per callout 15,000 Ft. For companies, all prices +27% VAT
Why you cannot find a price anywhere else
In August 2026 we went through several Budapest upholstery cleaners, price pages included. Almost none publish per-item prices. What there is tends to be a “from 10,000 Ft” line, or an enquiry form with no number on it at all.
There is a fair reason and an unfair one. The fair reason is real: a lightly used three-seater and a corner suite that has not been touched in years are genuinely not the same job, and anyone quoting a flat price unseen is either overcharging the easy case or losing money on the hard one.
The unfair reason is that a “from” price is bait. You find out on the phone that the number applied to the smallest armchair and your sofa is three times that. One thing protects you: ask for the full itemised price before anyone comes out.
So we print ours. These are the numbers we work from, and if something about your furniture changes them, it is explained in the quote rather than announced at your door.
What decides where in the range you land
- Size and number of seats - this sets the base
- How long since it was last cleaned: years of build-up needs more passes and longer drying
- Fabric: velvet, chenille and microfibre do not release dirt the same way
- Type of stain: food and drink is one treatment, grease and blood another, and those two do not always come out fully
- A pet in the flat: hair and odour are separate work, not a by-product of the main job
- Access: a fourth floor with no lift is a fourth floor for the machine too
A mattress is two jobs, not one
A mattress looks like one object and has two sides. The 15,000 Ft is one side, 25,000 Ft is both. This is the single most common misunderstanding on the whole list, which is why our quotes always say how many sides are included.
If someone prices a mattress for you without the number of sides coming up, ask. It is not a detail: the difference is 10,000 Ft, and the staining is usually on the side nobody looked at.
Leather is different work at a different price
We never clean leather with extraction. Water and injection belong to fabric; on leather they dry the surface out and crack it, and that damage does not come back.
Leather is done by hand: a cleaner, then a conditioner that puts the oils back. It is slower, which is why a three-seat leather sofa is 28,000 Ft against 22,000-25,000 Ft for fabric. If someone quotes you the same price for leather and fabric, they have not decided what they are going to do yet.
What the price does not include
- Repairing tears, wear and discolouration - that is an upholsterer's job
- Old dried paint, ink and mould: we will try, we do not promise
- Dismantling furniture or moving it to another room
- Rugs and curtains - separate items, separately priced
How to compare two quotes
Two prices are only comparable if they cover the same thing. Ask both: is the callout included, how many sides does the mattress price cover, is deodorising a separate line, and how long is the drying time.
Drying matters because it does not show in the price but it shows in your evening. After proper extraction a sofa dries in four to six hours and is usable that night. If someone tells you two days, they are putting too much water into the fabric and not pulling it back out.
And ask for photographs. We photograph every job, before and after - not because it looks good, but because it lets you judge afterwards what actually happened.
Common questions
How much is it to clean a three-seat sofa?
22,000-25,000 Ft depending on the fabric and how soiled it is. The callout is included once the order reaches the 15,000 Ft minimum.
Why does a corner sofa cost more?
More seating surface, more seams and more edges where dirt settles. A corner suite is typically half again the time of a straight sofa, hence 30,000-35,000 Ft.
How long does it take to dry?
Four to six hours. We use an extraction machine that pulls the water straight back out, so the fabric never soaks through. It is usable the same evening.
Will every stain come out?
We do not promise that. Most food, drink and grease will. Old dried paint, ink and hair dye often will not, and we say so before the job rather than after it.
Do you work in English?
Yes. The quote, the confirmation and the photo report are all in English if you ask in English, and the cleaner who comes will have your notes in writing.
