Carpet cleaning in Budapest

Hot-water extraction, from the base of the pile, in your flat. Oriental rugs, wool, modern fitted carpet - the fabric decides the chemistry and the temperature, not the calendar.

What carpet cleaning covers

  • Dry vacuuming in several passes to lift embedded dust and grit
  • Stain treatment matched to the stain: food, drink, grease, pet
  • Hot-water extraction with commercial equipment, injected and drawn straight back out
  • Neutralising and odour treatment, particularly after pets
  • Pile direction reset and accelerated drying
  • A photo report of the job, as with every service we run

What it does not cover

  • Carpet repair, re-fringing or re-binding
  • Old dried paint and ink: we will try, we do not promise full removal
  • Restoring water-damaged or mouldy carpet - that is a separate service
  • Taking the carpet away: we work on site

How it works

We look at the fabric and the stains first and tell you what will come out and what will not, before anything is touched. Then vacuuming, stain treatment, extraction. The carpet stays damp afterwards: drying depends on the fabric and the ventilation, typically four to eight hours. Stay off it until it is dry.

What to do with a fresh spill before we arrive

You handle a fresh spill better than we do, because you are there. While the liquid is wet it sits on the fibre; as it dries it binds to it, and then it is no longer a stain but a dye.

  • Blot up what you can with clean white cloth, working from the outside towards the middle
  • Use cold water: milk, egg and blood set in heat and stay in the fibre
  • Do not rub. Rubbing spreads the stain and works it between the fibres
  • Leave the hairdryer alone. It fixes what would still have come out
  • Test anything you apply on a hidden spot first, a corner or under furniture

Drying time, and what to do meanwhile

The extraction machine presses a warm solution into the fibre and pulls it back in the same movement. The second half is the point: what goes in comes out and brings the dirt with it. That is why the carpet stays damp rather than wet. It dries in four to eight hours, longer for thick wool. Ventilate the room, and while it is damp keep off it and do not cover it with a rug or furniture.

Synthetic, wool, hand-knotted

Carpets do not all take the same treatment, and the difference is not the price but what the fibre does with moisture.

  • Machine-made synthetic: the most tolerant, takes warm solution and extraction, dries quickly
  • Wool: a natural fibre, sensitive to alkali and slower to dry, so it needs a lower temperature and a milder agent
  • Hand-knotted and silk: we quote after a photo, because the dyes can run and the fringe is separate work
  • Rubber-backed bathroom mats: extraction can separate the backing, so we check these first

What it costs

Carpet cleaning is 3,500 Ft per square metre, with a 15,000 Ft minimum per visit. Enzyme treatment against pet odour adds 10,000 Ft. For hand-knotted and silk rugs we quote after a photo, because the chemistry and the temperature are different. For companies every price is plus 27% VAT, and we say so before the work, not on the invoice.

Common questions

How long does the carpet take to dry?

Typically four to eight hours, longer for thick wool. Ventilation speeds it up. While it is damp, stay off it and keep furniture off it.

Can you get pet stains and smell out?

In most cases yes, with an enzyme treatment. If the urine went through the underlay to the floor the smell can return - we tell you that at the survey, not after the job.

Do you take the carpet away or clean it here?

Here, in the flat. No transport, no carpet missing for weeks, and you can see what is being done to it.
