Window cleaning in Budapest
Inside and out, frames and sills included. City dust and soot lay a grey film on the glass within weeks, and fast in flats on a main road.

How high can we reach from outside?
This decides what we can take on, so we say it up front. From inside we reach every window on any floor: most Budapest windows are tilt-and-turn, which means they swing inward and the outer face can be cleaned from the flat. From outside, on a ladder, we do ground and first floor. We do not work on ropes and we do not clean glass facades at height. If that is what you need, say so when you ask for a quote, and we will not promise something we cannot do.
What it does not cover
- Rope access and glass facades at height
- Scratches, blind spots and misted double glazing - that is a glazier's job
- Paint and mortar left after building work: a separate survey, because it needs a blade
- Restoring glass already etched by old limescale
- Repairing blind mechanisms - we clean them, we do not fix them
Why it comes out without streaks
It is not the product, it is the order and the water. Frames and sills first, because that is where the dirt runs down onto the glass from, and only then the glass itself. Rinsed with clean water, pulled off with a squeegee, edges wiped separately. We do not start a window in direct sun: the water evaporates before the blade reaches it, and that is exactly what leaves streaks.
How often is worth it
Every four to six weeks for a flat on a main road in the inner districts. Every two to three months in quieter parts and for houses. Monthly for retail, where the window is the shopfront. Autumn deserves its own clean: there is less daylight, and dirty glass takes more of what is left.
How often, street side and courtyard side
In a block on the ring road half the flats face the street and half the inner courtyard, and the glass greys at a different rate. On the street side soot from brake dust and exhaust settles on the pane. It is greasy, it clings, and rain does not wash it off, it smears it.
- Facing a main road: every six to eight weeks
- Quieter side street: quarterly
- Window onto the inner courtyard: twice a year is enough
- Shopfront: monthly, where the point is the look rather than the dust
- Building work nearby: overrides every schedule
Two things washing will not bring back
If the haze sits between the two panes, so it stays after you wipe both sides, the seal of the insulated unit has failed. That is a glass replacement and not a cleaning job. The other is etching: where water dripped for years or sprinklers hit the glass, limescale leaves microscopic pits. Against the light it reads as a milky patch, and it is in the glass rather than on it. Polishing reduces it, detergent does nothing. Below minus five we do not wash outside windows.
What it costs
We price per sash: both sides, including the frame, the sill and the runners. A standard sash up to 1.5 m is 3,000 Ft, 1.5-2 m is 4,500 Ft, above 2 m is 5,500 Ft, panoramic glass from 6,000 Ft, a balcony door 6,500 Ft, a roof window 5,000 Ft, balcony glazing 1,700 Ft per m². Internal blinds add 1,000 Ft per sash. Old wooden double windows cost twice the figure, because that is four glass surfaces and not two. We give the exact price after a photo: without the sash size and the frame type an estimate can be out by a factor of two. For companies, plus 27% VAT.

Common questions
I live on the fourth floor. Can the outside be cleaned?
Yes, if the window is tilt-and-turn, because swung inward the outer face is reachable from the flat. If it does not open inward, we do not take it on from outside at height - and we tell you that at the survey, not on the day.
Do you take the insect screens off?
Yes, off, washed and back on. Tell us in advance if there are many, because it takes time.
What does it cost?
The number of windows, their type and the access decide it, so we do not publish a list price. The quote form asks for the counts and the floor, and you get a real number within two hours.
Will limescale spots come off the glass?
Fresh ones, yes. Old dried limescale has already etched the glass, and at that point the mark is not dirt but the surface itself, which cleaning cannot bring back.
