Upholstery and sofa cleaning in Budapest

Sofas, armchairs, chairs and mattresses, deep cleaned in your flat. We look at the fabric before we look at the stain - doing it the other way round is how furniture gets ruined.

What we clean

  • Sofas and corner suites, seat cushions and backs together
  • Armchairs, wing chairs, ottomans and footstools
  • Dining chairs and office chairs with fabric seats
  • Mattresses, both sides, against dust mites and perspiration marks
  • Upholstered bed frames and headboards

What upholstery cleaning covers

  • A fabric test on a hidden panel before any product touches the piece
  • Dry vacuuming with a crevice tool, lifting the crumbs and dust under the cover
  • Stain treatment matched to the stain: food, drink, grease, blood, pet
  • Hot-water extraction, injected and drawn straight back out of the pile
  • Dust mite and allergen treatment, which is the whole point on a mattress
  • Neutralising and odour treatment
  • A photo report of the job

What it does not cover

  • Restoring, recolouring or dyeing leather furniture
  • Tears, springs and frames - that is an upholsterer's job, not a cleaner's
  • Taking covers off for machine washing: most of them shrink
  • Old ink, paint and disinfectant marks: we will try, we do not promise full removal
  • Bringing colour back to sun-bleached fabric

How it works

We identify the fabric and test on a hidden panel first. That is not a formality: the product that leaves no mark on polyester will stain viscose. Then vacuuming, stain treatment, extraction. The piece stays damp afterwards - four to eight hours depending on the fabric and the ventilation, and nearer the longer end for a mattress.

The letter on the label tells you what is allowed

Most upholstered furniture carries a small label under the seat or beside the cover zip, with one letter on it. That letter is the manufacturer's instruction on how the fabric may be cleaned. Read it before you pour anything on the sofa, and photograph it when you ask us for a price.

  • W: water-based cleaning is allowed, the most common case
  • S: solvent only, water leaves marks, often velour and microfibre
  • WS: either works, the most forgiving case
  • X: neither water nor solvent, vacuum and brush only

What cleaning does not fix

Know the limit in advance. Cleaning does not bring colour back to faded fabric, does not close a tear, and does not tighten a stretched cover. Wear is not a stain either: a seat in daily use for two years stays flatter and greyer than the one beside it, only clean. Leather takes a different process, by hand, cleaner then conditioner, because pressurised water lifts the dye layer off it.

What it costs

A straight sofa, two or three seats, is 22,000-25,000 Ft, a corner sofa 30,000-35,000 Ft, an armchair 8,000 Ft, a dining chair 3,000 Ft. A mattress is 15,000 Ft for one side and 25,000 Ft for both, and the quote always says which in words: a mattress looks like one object but it is two jobs. Leather is done by hand, cleaner then conditioner, never extraction: leather armchair 12,000 Ft, two-seat leather sofa 25,000 Ft, three-seat 28,000 Ft, corner 35,000-40,000 Ft, leather chair 4,000 Ft. Enzyme treatment against pet odour adds 10,000 Ft. Minimum per visit is 15,000 Ft, and for companies every price is plus 27% VAT.

Common questions

How long does a sofa take to dry?

Typically four to eight hours, longer for heavy fabric and for mattresses. Ventilation speeds it up. While it is damp, do not sit on it and do not cover it.

Do you clean leather sofas?

Leather needs a different process, and whether we take it on depends on its condition. Send a photo and we will tell you beforehand. We do not restore or recolour leather at all.

Will pet smell come out of the sofa?

Out of the fabric, in most cases yes, with an enzyme treatment. If the urine reached the foam the smell can return - we tell you that at the survey, not after the job.

Is this steam cleaning?

Yes, that is what most people call it. The machine works hot water into the fabric under pressure and pulls it straight back out with the dirt, so the upholstery is never left soaked. That is why it dries in hours rather than days.

How often should upholstery be cleaned?

A sofa in daily use once a year, every six months with small children or pets. Mattresses yearly, more often with allergies.
