Post-renovation cleaning in Budapest: when to start and how long it takes
Construction dust does not disappear with one wet mop. It must be removed dry first, and a second damp pass often reveals where it has settled again.
Start only when dusty building work has actually finished
Tiling, painting and installation should be complete, tools removed, and paint, grout and silicone allowed to cure for the manufacturer's stated time. If trades are still cutting, sanding or drilling, new dust reaches clean surfaces within minutes.
Large rubble, demolition waste and hazardous material removal are not cleaning. The property must be safe to walk through, with working water and electricity. Tell us in advance when equipment must be carried up floors without a lift.
Fine dust needs a different order
Adding lots of water to loose construction dust creates grey slurry that can enter grout and porous surfaces. Dry removal is therefore preparation, not an optional extra.
- Ventilate and identify new or sensitive surfaces.
- Collect coarse residue without scratching.
- Remove dry fine dust from top to bottom with a HEPA-filtered vacuum.
- Make the first damp pass over frames, doors, switches, skirting and fitted units.
- Clean kitchen, sanitary ware, glass and floors with material-appropriate products.
- Inspect again after drying and correct resettled dust and streaks.
Paint, cement haze and silicone are different problems
Water-based paint, solvent coating, cement haze and cured silicone require different treatment. Strong acid or a blade on the wrong material can cause permanent damage. The residue and surface must be identified before a hidden-area test.
Cleaning removes surface contamination. It does not repair scratches, etched stone, faulty grout, paint defects or construction damage. We flag residue that cannot be removed safely before proceeding.
Specify the scope item by item
- Inside cabinets or external surfaces only
- Number and type of windows, frames, shutters and balcony glass
- Paint, adhesive or cement-residue treatment
- Inside oven, refrigerator and extractor hood
- Balcony, storage room, cellar or common stairs
- A second dust-removal pass where the initial load is heavy
For comparison, the standard room list is on our deep cleaning page. Renovation dust needs its own estimate.
A realistic Budapest price example
CLB's post-renovation rate is 9,500 to 10,500 Ft per person per hour. An empty 40 m² flat with moderate dust might need two cleaners for five hours. That is ten labour hours, or 95,000 to 105,000 Ft. The same size with cement dust, many windows and paint residue can take longer.
This is an example, not a square-metre tariff. For a useful estimate, send the area, room count and 8 to 12 clear photographs of floors, frames, kitchen, bathroom and problem residue.

Common questions
When can post-renovation cleaning begin?
After every dust-producing trade has finished, equipment is gone and new coatings have cured for the manufacturer's stated time.
Is rubble removal included?
No. The contractor or a waste operator should remove large debris and construction waste before cleaning.
What is the hourly rate?
CLB charges 9,500 to 10,500 Ft per person per hour. Total cost depends on labour hours, condition, windows and specialist residue.
Can a flat be completed in one day?
Many can, but heavy fine dust, extensive glazing or stubborn residue may require another day or inspection pass.
Can every paint or cement mark be removed?
No. The result depends on the residue and surface. We will not use a method that is likely to damage the finish.
